In compliance with the Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho, and within the own effort of the Colombian Navy, within the framework of a joint operation, a blue semi-submarine carrying 3.3 tons of cocaine hydrochloride was intercepted while sailing in the waters of the South Pacific.
The illegal merchandise that apparently intended to be sent to the coasts of Central America, would be marketed in more than eight thousand doses of the illicit substance, with an estimated cost of more than 111 million dollars.
As part of the operation, three men aged 57, 50 and 33 were arrested; they were transporting the material on board the illegal device.
During the maritime interception procedure, the semi-submarine faced a leak of water and excessive toxic smoke, being necessary to put people to safety and extract of the ship 142 small bags and 62 large bags, which inside contained 3,300 rectangular packages, which were taken to the dock of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where the officials of the Technical Research Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) and the SIJIN conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test leaving positive result for 3,300 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The men who were arrested for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics, along with the cargo were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office.
With this decisive result, more than eight thousand people were prevented from attacking their own lives with the consumption of narcotic substances.
30 tons of cocaine hydrochloride and more than five tons of marijuana were intended to be transported on board these 20 semi-submarines, which were detected in the Colombian Pacific so far this year.
