This operation prevented the entry of more than $79 million into the drug trafficking groups with interference in Brazil.
Units of the Colombian Navy, jointly with Colombian National Army, found two tons of Cripy-type marijuana in the village of Puerto Gallo, municipality of Puerto Asís in the department of Putumayo.
During the operation, the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 30 of the Colombian Navy and the 27th Engineer Battalion of Colombian National Army, arrested alias El Loco, who planned to transport the drugs to Brazil aboard a boat, which hid 24 sacks with the drug. This individual would presumably be linked to the Residual Organized Armed Group Segunda Marquetalia E-48 Comandos de Frontera.
The arrested individual and the material were taken to the facilities of Engineer Battalion No. 27, where the relevant urgent acts will be carried out by the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE).
This finding represents a significant blow to the finances and operations of the GAO-r Segunda Marquetalia E-48, preventing two thousand kilograms of marijuana from reaching its final destination in Brazil. It is estimated that this amount of drug could have generated more than $79 million in illegal income for transnational organized crime organizations.
The Colombian Navy will continue to deploy all its logistical resources and the military operation in order to counter the criminal activity of the different drug trafficking organizations operating in the Colombian Amazonas region.
