Units of the Navy of Colombia find 32,100 dollars transported aboard a Panamanian ship.
The operation was carried out in the municipality of Sapzurro, in the municipality of Acandí, in the department of Chocó, when men of the Urabá Coastguard Station, in an inspection work on a boat named 'Conchacoco', found the money hidden under a mattress.
The ship was transferred to the Coast Guard Station of Urabá, in the municipality of Turbo, where, in coordination with the Fiscal and Customs Police Directorate - POLFA, the confiscation proceeding was carried out for not presenting the relevant legal documentation for foreign currency entering the country.
During the inspection of the motor ship, troops also found two lifeless armadillos and 67,134 coconuts, merchandise that according to the information provided by the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs - DIAN, has a cost that exceeds 134 million pesos.
The two dead armadillos were put into custody of the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of Urabá - CORPOURABÁ, the environmental authority.
The money was put into custody of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs - DIAN, for illegal entry of foreign currency in the country, as well as the smuggled merchandise found, for not counting on the documentation proving origin, as well as the import manifest issued by the DIAN.
