More than 32 million pesos in contraband merchandise transported aboard an Ecuadorian ship were found by troops of the Coast Guards of the Colombian Navy, in waters of the Pacific Ocean, in the municipality of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño.
Information of Naval Intelligence and the rapid reaction of Units of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, led to the maritime interception of the ship "Oceano", which transported three Ecuadorians by sector known as El Bajito. During the inspection of the motorboat, 200 boxes were found, which contained a9 600 tuna cans, manufactured in Ecuador.
At the time of requesting the documentation proving the legal entry of these non-perishable products in the country, in this case, the import manifest issued by the National Tax and Customs Directorate (Dian), was not presented by the crew of the ship, so that the merchandise valued at more than 32 million pesos, was put into custody of the same institution to conduct the confiscation procedure.
Thanks to these control operations carried out in seas and rivers, during 2019, the Pacific Naval Force has managed to prevent the movement of 1,510,904,756 million pesos of the smuggling organizations.
