During an underwater inspection, a team of highly trained divers of the Colombian Navy managed to find about 170 kilograms of marijuana, inside several sacks that were hidden in a Taiwanese merchant ship, in the facilities of the Society Port of Buenaventura.
With important information from Naval Intelligence, the team of specialized divers of the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura carried out an underwater inspection to the ship “YM UNANIMITY”, a container load type, prior to the departure that would be made of the Port of Buenaventura, from Valle del Cauca to the Port of El Callao, in Peru. During the search, which lasted for three hours, troops found three black sacks inside in the right side of the boat, which contained 148 rectangular packages with alkaloids.
The material was transported to the pier of the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, where members of the Judicial Police, made the Preliminary Identification Tests (Piph) to the substance found in the packages, leaving a positive result for 169, 8 kilograms of marijuana. Apparently this ship would have been contaminated by drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes under this modality.
The Colombian Navy, through the Pacific Naval Force Units, will continue conducting operations that counteract the illegal use of the sea and ships, while maintaining operations to neutralize any modality used by Narcoterrorist organizations, who try to transport illegal substances to international food markets.
