The permanent development of surveillance, control and security operations carried out by the Colombian Navy units led to the finding of 3,420 gallons of contraband fuel, at the time when they were transported irregularly on board three boats by sea and river roads in the municipalities of Tumaco and Olaya Herrera, Nariño.
The first finding was reported in the El Bajito – Tumaco sector, where units of the Coast Guard Station conducting a maritime checkpoint detected two ships in which several individuals were suspiciously transporting a large number of barrels with fuel, so they immediately proceeded to make calls for inspection. For their part, the individuals, noticing the work of the authority, drove the boats to the coastal area where they looked for a beach and later fled.
In the area, with the support of troops of the Navy Battalion No.40, the boats were searched, finding inside 52 barrels with 2,550 gallons of fuel illegally entered the country, which were put into custody of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office.
Hours later, at the second checkpoint in Tumaco Bay, Coast Guard units stopped the third ship boat Alquien 3, without registration, where 320 gallons of fuel were being transported. At the time of the inspection, the crew of the boat did not present the documentation proving the legal entry and transport of the fuel in the country, so they were taken to the facilities of the Tumaco Coast Guard Station, where they were put into custody of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs of Colombia - DIAN, for the crime of smuggling fuel and its derivatives.
Finally, troops of Navy Battalion No.15 on the PatÃa river, Olaya Herrera – Nariño, they found 550 gallons of gasoline transported irregularly on board a boat, since the documents required for their transport were not presented, in accordance with the provisions of regulation 0001 of 2015 of the National Narcotics Council, which establishes a special control for substances and chemicals that can be used or destined, directly or indirectly in the extraction, transformation and refining of illicit drugs.
