In recent hours, the Colombian Navy found the contraband merchandise valued at approximately seven million pesos, material that was transported aboard a rudimentary ship that covered the Zapzurro - Cartagena route, being located by the authorities in Isla Fuerte, in the department of Bolivar.
While sailing on the sea, this Colombian ship named "Don Javier II" was intercepted during routine maritime controls carried out by a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coveñas Coast Guard Station.
During the inspection of the motor ship, plastic bags that contained cigarette packs and other household items such as menthol were found by troops. These merchandises did not have the documentation issued by the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs - DIAN.
The merchandise corresponding to 3808 packs of cigarettes, 24 bottles of Menticol (menthol – alcohol) and 96 bottles of menthol, was put into custody ofthe Directorate of National Taxes and Customs, while the boat was immobilized by the Colombian Navy.
