248 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops of the Colombian Navy following a successful operation on the Magdalena River.
The operation that took place in the municipality of La Gloria, in the department of Cesar, it was carried out thanks to the timely reaction of the troops of the River Battalion of Navy Infantry No.17, attached to the Joint Task Force Marte, moments when four individuals intended to transport the drug in one of the unnamed rudimentary boats.
The individuals, noticing the work of the members of the Military Forces, escaped leaving the boats which were stranded on the banks of the Magdalena River, which were inspected by the troops of the River Battalion of Navy Infantry No.17, finding within one of them 251 rectangular packages, apparently with alleged illicit substance.
Immediately, units of the SIJ脥N of the National Police went to the place of the facts, to conduct the Initial Test, leaving positive result for 248 kg of cocaine hydrochloride; this cargo apparently belonged to Organized Armed Groups who commit crimes in the south of the Bol铆var department.
No arrests were made during the operation, but the material was found and put into custody of to the Basic Criminal Investigation Unit 鈥揢BIC - of the municipality of Aguachica, Cesar.
In this way, troops continue to significantly damage the finances of drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes on the Colombian Caribbean coast, preventing the income of approximately more than eight million dollars, commonly used by organized crime to purchase war materiel and military accessories to attack communities and Military Forces.
