The operation against drug trafficking in the Colombian Pacific during 2021 has left to date more than 104 tons of narcotics found.
A new blow to drug trafficking organizations was dealt by units of the Colombian Navy in the Colombian Pacific, with the interception of a ship carrying more than a ton of cocaine valued at more than USD$ 34 million. Three men of Ecuadorian nationality were arrested for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing and / or carrying narcotics.
The constant development of maritime surveillance, control and security operations carried out by Surface and Coast Guard Units of the Pacific Naval Force led to the detection of a boat when it was moving at high speeds near the Central Pacific, heading for Central American countries. After several minutes of pursuit, the ship was intercepted at Malpelo Island, finding 1,035 packages of narcotic substances inside.
The individuals and the cargo were taken to the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, where members of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office carried out the approved preliminary identification test that left positive result for 1,037 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
According to intelligence information, the finding of this illegal merchandise hit significantly the finances of residual Organised Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure, Jaime Martinez, who commits crimes in the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca, preventing the entry of more than $ 34 million from the trafficking and sale of illegal narcotics that are sent to countries of Central and north America. At the same time, their criminal operations were hit, since these money are used for the purchase of military accessories, illegal purchase of weapons and explosive devices used to attack members of the Military Forces, the critical infrastructure of the State and civilians in this region of the country.
