Units of the Colombian Navy, of the Southern Naval Force, transported and distributed 300 food baskets to families in vulnerable conditions in the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo, in Putumayo. In the same way, they carried out the transport and distribution of 200 food baskets to the indigenous community Mocagua, in a rural area of the municipality of Leticia, capital of the the department of Amazonas.
Thanks to the coordinated work with the local and regional authorities of the departments of Amazonas and Putumayo, it was possible to benefit 2,000 inhabitants of these border municipalities in the Colombian Amazonian region. These activities, as a result of the Unified State operation and the coordination of efforts with the public and private sectors, have mitigated the economic impact produced by covid-19 on the vulnerable inhabitants of the Colombian Amazonas.
The Southern Naval Force has arranged its river and land Units at the service of distributing humanitarian aid, carrying out border control and surveillance patrols to guarantee safe environments during quarantine.
