In the first six months of 2023, the Colombian Navy has strengthened its operation on the Magdalena, Cauca rivers and the Canal del Dique, in order to maintain positive conditions of security and comprehensive development in the Colombian Caribbean.
This is how, with joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations along with the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, they have impacted the entire criminal chain associated with drug trafficking and the illicit exploitation of resources, especially in the departments of Antioquia, Bolívar and Cesar.
Among the main results obtained by the Navy Infantry troops of the Naval Institution, the finding of more than 530 tons of solid precursors, 150 thousand gallons of liquid precursors and more than 130 thousand gallons of illegal fuel stands out, thus countering the direct or indirect use of chemical substances that can be destined for the extraction, transformation and refining of narcotics.
In the same way, the arrest of 37 alleged members of the GAO Clan del Golfo, 30 individuals arrested for common crimes, the finding of 21 firearms, 518 units of ammunition, 92 kilograms of coca paste base, 35 kilograms of marijuana and the destruction of two laboratories for the production and production of coca paste base have been made.
On the other hand, with regard to the protection of the environment and natural resources, 23 individuals have been arrested for crimes against the environment, troops have found 88 cubic meters of wood, destroyed 16 machinery for the illegal extraction of mining sites and found 1,334 kilograms of illegal fishing.
Those arrested and the material were put into custody of the authorities in each of the departments for the respective judicial process.
