The Colombian Navy is conducting its operations against organized armed groups that commit crimes in the municipality of Timbiquí, Cauca, where it was possible to arrest three criminals, the finding of war material and the finding of 234 million pesos.
In the operations carried out by the troops of the Naval Force of the Pacific rio Saija, in the municipality of Cupí, in Timbiquí, were arrested and put into custody of the authorities three alleged members of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 30, troops also found four firearms, approximately six kilograms of coca, a ship fitted out for the transport of narcotics and 234 million pesos in cash.
As a result of sustained operations, there was firefight conducted by members of the residual organized armed group structure 30 and Navy troops working in the sector. During the fighting there was no loss of civilian members of Indigenous or Afro-descendant communities, nor of the troops.
The joint military operations on the Saija River and the municipality of Timbiquí are carried out with full observance, implementation and respect for international human rights law and international humanitarian law; this is transparency and ethical behavior of the military forces.
The Military Forces in fulfillment of their mission to protect all people, in their lives, honor, property and beliefs, work aver all territory of the National Geography. Organized Armed groups, which seek to hit and constrain ethnic communities, must be pursued by the authorities with full determination. The Pacific Naval Force will continue to conduct all necessary efforts to protect and safeguard the rights of communities.
