Units of the Colombian Navy, of the Southern Naval Force, transported and distributed essential items and food baskets to different indigenous communities in the upper area of the department of Amazonas.
Among the benefited communities there are 7 de Agosto, 12 de Octobre, Boyahuasu, Naranjales, Nuevo Paraíso, San Juan de Atacuari, San Francisco, Tarapoto, Tipisca and Villa Andrea.
Thanks to the coordinated work with local authorities, private companies and social leaders of the department of Amazonas, it was possible to benefit 4,000 members of indigenous communities by distributing items such as face masks, masks, disinfectant, soap, sterilized overalls, alcohol, and non-perishable food.
The distribution was made by the crew of the Ship ARC Cotuhé and a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Amazonas Coast Guard Command.
This is how the South Naval Force has arranged its river and land Units at the service of assistance to the civil authority and humanitarian aid to the inhabitants. In the same way, we continue to carry out operations against the instability factors that harm the Colombian Amazonas region, denying the river areas of this region of the country to illegal activities such as drug trafficking, contraband or illegal mining.
