Units of the Colombian Navy assisted two fishermen who were drifting on board a ship that presented failures in its engines, five nautical miles north of Punta Mestizos in the Gulf of Morrosquillo.
The operation began once crew members of the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas received the alert call by an member of the National Police of the municipality of San Bernardo del Viento - Sucre, who reported that the relatives of two missing fishermen on board a boat that had set sail on Wednesday, May 10 in the afternoon, were looking for them by their own.
The search and rescue protocols were immediately activated, one of the adrift fishermen was contacted and detailed monitoring of the ship's navigation patterns was carried out. In the afternoon, Coast Guard crews arrived at the scene of the emergency, checked the situation and brought the two people to safety; they were in good health conditions.
Those rescued along with the boat were taken to the dock of the Coast Guard Station of Coveñas, where they were provided with hydration.
