The coordination of maritime and air units led to the successful development of the simulation of emergency at sea.
With the active participation of afloat and aerial units of the Colombian Navy through the Caribbean Naval Force, in coordination with crew of the Maritime Traffic Station of Cartagena, the maritime search and rescue simulation was carried out in the bay.
This type of exercise leads to the recurrent training of the units for the timely assistance of emergencies, especially at the end of the year, where the number of boats and tourists in the heroic city increases.
Thus, the interaction conducted by Rapid Reaction units of the Coast Guard, with a helicopter of the Aeronaval Group of the Caribbean and permanent communication with the Maritime Traffic Control Tower was possible to provide support for the simulated emergency of a boat with four people on board and faults at sea.
It is worth mentioning that the implementation of these drills leads the country to comply with the standards adopted worldwide, including the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR).
