The man is alias James, who had led the structure for more than five years.
In an inter-agency operation, conducted by the Colombian Navy and the Attorney General's Office, alias James –the alleged ringleader of a transnational criminal organization and who committed crimes in Buenaventura by sending narcotics and weapons from this area of the Colombian Pacific– was captured.
After a year of arduous work, this man was captured in the sector known as Cristal, in the commune number eight, by members of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Buenaventura, attached to the Navy Infantry Brigade No.2 of the Pacific Naval force, and members of the Technical Research Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office.
On the 46-year-old man, a warrant was issued for the offences of association to commit aggravated crimes and trafficking, manufacture and carrying of narcotic drugs. According to the investigations, it could be established that the individual was the coordinator of this structure, which for more than five years had been transporting weapons and illicit substances on boats to Central and North American countries.
