The Colombian Navy through the Pacific Naval Force continues to carry out operations in Agua Blanca, a rural area of the municipality of Nuquí, in the department of Chocó, to protect the indigenous communities that were forced to move to the municipality of Tribugá, for the murder of one of its members, last Sunday, January 5.
Given this fact, the Pacific Naval Force has intensified its operations, installing in the area, a command post of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.23, in addition to ships, specialized troops and aircraft, to reinforce security and consolidate the presence of the Navy, which leads to protect the rights of 129 displaced persons.
In the same way, constant dialogues have been conducted with the Municipal Mayor's Office and the Ombudsman's Office in the area, to timely meet the requirements of the communities to guarantee the restoration of their rights and the security conditions for their return to Agua Blanca. This is how the Mayor of Nuquí, Yefer Gamboa, with the support of the Colombian Navy, distributed Humanitarian Aid to the 28 families.
Similarly, in coordination with the Colombian Air Force, overflights have been carried out in the area to verify the situation and support the troops that secured the sector for the military operations.
