Through differential resources and trainings focused on the urban area, tranquility will be ensured in the realization of this summit that brings together 196 countries and more than 12,000 people.
Colombia will host the most important biodiversity event on the planet, the COP16, an event that brings together 169 countries, and seeks to generate sustainable solutions to critical environmental problems that endanger the life of the earth's and maritime ecosystems; this summit that will be held in the city of Santiago de Cali, Valle del Cauca, from October 21 to November 1, 2024, will count on the military deployment of the Urban Operations Support Command of Colombian National Army.
The troops that will be in different areas of the capital city of the department of Valle, such as the Boulevard del R铆o, the Marco Fidel Su谩rez Military Aviation School and the hotel sector of the capital city, in addition to the municipality of Yumbo, will strive for the safety and tranquility of the inhabitants, visitors and participants of the COP 16.
This military unit, which is characterized by its differential resources, including stand out, the execution of military operations with high precision marksmen (TAP), in day and night environments; the protection of leaders and personalities in chaotic environments; the clearing of confined enclosures and air assault maneuvers and helicopters, will be in Cali and its surroundings from September 30th of this year.
This military deployment will be carried out jointly, coordinated and inter-institutional with the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office; in the same way, with the support of the Joint Command No. 2.
Colombian National Army will continue to carry out military operations that lead to provide tranquility to the communities and visitors who transit through the country; in the same way, it will continue to contribute to the security of environments such as COP16, Peace with Nature, which make visible the natural, biological, ancestral and ethnic diversity of Colombia.
