Soldiers of the 18th Infantry Battalion, Coronel Jaime Rooke, of the Sixth Brigade, arrived at the village of Vallecito, municipality of Valle de San Juan, to arrest in flagrante the three individuals who were illegally carrying out the exploitation of gold material in the form of a sinkhole. The Air Force, the National Police and Cortolima were involved in this operation.
During the documents review, it was evident that the individuals did not have the legal permits to carry out this exploitation, and, on the other hand, they generated a negative environmental impact, evidenced in deforestation, landscape modification, environmental damage in the air, water and soil component. The environmental recovery of this area can take more than 30 years.
By means of this result it was possible to hit the group by $752,230,000 represented in the construction. Aan extraction of 2000 grams of gold per month was being carried out in the place, with a cost of $635,298,000 in commerce.
The three individuals were put into custody of the Local Prosecutor's Office No. 18, of the municipality of Rovira, for the alleged crimes of illicit exploitation of mining deposits and other materials. A petroleum-fired engine and three electronic industrial drills were in the same way put into custody of the authorities.
The impact generated by the illicit exploitation of mining deposits hits the land's surfaces, polluting the air, soils, surface waters and underground aquifers, which produces alterations in the microclimate and hits the local and regional flora and fauna. Through this result, the soldiers of the Sixth Brigade, within the framework of the Amazon Plan, contribute to environmental conservation.
