The ships were used to transport narcotics to Central America, with a final destination in the United States.
Troops of the Seventeenth Brigade, in coordination with the Interagency Investigations Group of the National Police, dealt a significant blow to the drug trafficking chain by dismantling a warehouse in the village of Belén, municipality of San Juan de Urabá, Antioquia. Seven Go Fast-type speedboats, designed to carry up to seven tons of cocaine hydrochloride, were found by troops at the scene, along with 16 300-horsepower outboard motors.
These ships, with camouflaged decks to evade radar and aircraft detection, were intended for the illegal transport of drugs to Central America, on route to the United States. The warehouse functioned as a manufacturing center for these boats, often used by criminal organizations to transport their cargoes quickly and efficiently. The commercial value of the material amounts to 3800 million pesos.
The operation was conducted in support of a raid by Infantry Battalion No.47 that, through intelligence work, found the factory and secure the area.
The boats and the material found were put into custody of the authorities to continue with the investigations.
This result has a powerful impact on the finances of the Central Structure of Urabá, the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, which uses these resources to strengthen its armed capacity and attack the Military Forces and the strategic resources of the State.
