So far this year, the Fourteenth Brigade has neutralized the threat of 67 members of this organized armed group in this region of the country.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho plan, Colombian National Army in the Risaralda village of the municipality of Amalfi, Antioquia, managed to arrest three individuals, including alias Camilo, who would be the ringleader of the zone and the chief of finance of the Jorge Iván Arboleda Garcés substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, with criminal interference in the municipalities of Amalfi, Yolombó, Yali, Vagachí and Cisneros.
This individual would be in charge of ordering and executing selective assassinations, extortion and coercion against the inhabitants; in addition, he would be the right-hand man of alias Gonzalito, the main ringleader of the Roberto Vargas Gutiérrez structure and at the same time a member of the general staff of the self-proclaimed Gaitanist Self-defense Forces of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
Alias Camilo is in the same way the alleged murderer of teacher Steven Chalarca, who was killed by 22 rifleshots on September 12 of this year, in the school of the village of Barro Blanco, in the municipality of Yolombó, Antioquia, in front of his students.
In the framework of other coordinated operations and by means of a search warrant with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, in the municipality of Segovia, Antioquia, four people were arrested, apparently former members of the Clan del Golfo, who would be specialized in microtrafficking, collection of money from extortion and selective homicides. These individuals were found by troops with short-range firearms, ammunition of different calibers and a motorcycle; in the same way, apparently, one of these arrested would have murdered a person days earlier as reckoning.
In the same way, in this same municipality, it was in the same way possible to arrest four other individuals allegedly belonging to the Jorge Iván Arboleda Garcés substructure of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who were carrying out extortion and intimidating people on the villages El Diamante and El Aporreado of this municipality. According to intelligence information, one of those arrested in this operation would be the head of the hitmen squad of this illegal group. Three firearms, more than 20 cartridges and a motorcycle were found by troops during the military operation.
