The units are constantly operating in the area and are continuing to conduct the searches, with the aim of preventing any operation that this armed group intends to take in the sector.
Within the framework of the Campaign Plan of the Ayacucho military Operation, troops attached to the Joint Command No.5 of Colombian National Army, in a joint and inter-institutional operation with the Colombian Air Force and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, engaged combats with the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, which resulted in the death in the framework of military operations of a member of the armed group of the Yeison Leudo Chaverra Substructure, belonging to this illegal organization.
The military operation was carried out in the village of Bejuquillo, in the municipality of Cáceres, Antioquia, where the authorities in the same way found war materiel, military accessories and communications.
Among the items found at the scene there were 5 rifles, about 3,000 cartridges of different calibers, more than 20 magazines, a hand grenade, 8 multipurpose vests and two communications radios.
Additionally, military-type garments were found by troops such as 15 pixelated pants, 22 warriors, 15 sweaters, 17 camouflage fabrics; 18 campaign equipment, 2 assault bags, bandanas, belts and pavas.
Similarly, garments alluding to the Gaitanistas Self-Defense Forces of Colombia were found by troops, including 8 bracelets, 9 caps, a flag of this organization, as well as items of interest to military intelligence and notebooks with information about their policies and positions.
This material, apparently, would be used to instill fear and attack the inhabitants, and also the troops who have a permanent presence in the sector, who have dealt heavy blows to this illegal structure that commits crimes in the area.
With this result, the criminal intentions of the Yeison Leudo Chaverra Substructure are countered, which is constituted as one of the main generators of displacement and forced confinement in this sector of the Bajo Cauca subregion of Antioquia, through the constraint and use of civilians.
