Within the framework of joint operations, troops of the Colombian Navy and the National Army attached to the Joint Task Force Titan found and neutralized a rudimentary high-explosive that they intended to use to attack civilians and Military Forces in the department of Chocó.
The troops in the area reached Domingodó, a rural area of El Carmen del Darién in the department of Chocó, in order to carry out control operations that led to the finding of a cylinder-type improvised explosive device loaded with high explosives, which put at risk the good physical condition and the lives of the people of this sector.
The cylinder contained 180 grams of trinitrotoluene–TNT type explosive, with a range of up to a thousand meters around.
The improvised explosive device, which allegedly belonged to the Pablo José Montalvo Cuitiva substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, would be activated upon the transit of troops in the area, so National Army soldiers deactivated it in controlled conditions.
This operation thwarts terrorist operations against civilians, members of the Military Forces and critical nation-constructions in this region of the country.
