In military operations, troops of the Quirón Task Force in coordination with the National Police managed to strike a new and decisive blow that has led to systematically weakening and neutralizing the criminal intentions of organized armed groups that permanently attack on the population and the economy in the department of Arauca. They captured seven individuals whoto belong to the Gao - Eln.
The first capture was carried out in the municipality of Arauquita after the reconnaissance and checks of the zone that led to find alias “Cucú” or “El Flaco”, 32, member of the network of support of terrorism of the ELN. During eight years he perpetrated criminal intelligence operations, attacks on the Security forces and the collection of money extorted from transporters, cattlemen, businessmen and merchants in the urban and rural area municipality.
The second capture that occurred in the central park of the municipality of Tame was that of alias “huesitos”, 22. Three years ago he entered the ranks of the Residual Gao Structure “Primera” and was wanted with arrest warrants for the crimes of homicide, extortion and rebellion. He is allegedly responsible for the unsuccessful attacks on the military base of La Y de Betoyes and the activation of a motorcycle loaded with explosives against the National Police in the central area of Tame.
The third capture was reported after a firefight, apparently with members of the group Marta Helena Baron of the Gao - Eln, in the municipality center of El Botalón, in the municipality of Tame, which led to the apprehension of alias “Damián”, 36. During the last nine years in the criminal structure he was in charge of collecting the money obtained through extortions, criminal intelligence on the Security forces and he also coordinated meetings with leaders of different commissions of the Domingo Laín Sáenz front.
At the time of his capture alias “Damian” had in his possession a 9 mm caliber pistol, two magazines and 20 cartridges. Finally, in the village of “La Osa de Arauquita”, the last four captures took place in flagrante delicto, when the individuals were traveling in two motorcycles carrying two rudimentary rifles and four 16-mm cartridges.
