The Colombian Air Force continues to support the extinction of the fires that have been taking place in the Isla Salamanca Natural Park. After the park reported new fires, a Bell 212 helicopter with a Bambi Bucket system was sent from the Air Combat command No. 3.
This mission was fulfilled when the National Unit for the Management of Disaster Risk, UNGRD in Spanish, requested an immediate reaction through the National Center for Recovery of Personnel of the Colombian Air Force, CNRP, who faced these fires to reduce environmental damage.
During this operation, the helicopter made 25 water drops corresponding to 6,300 gallons of water and 34 liters of fire control liquids, this complements the work that was conducted on land with the firefighters of Parque Salamanca and the municipality of Sitio Nuevo, in Magdalena, who turn off smaller fires to prevent the fire from reactivating.
