Once again the Colombian Air Force, in coordination with the National Center for Recovery Personnel, making use of their ability to make transfers by air of patients with COVID-19, and in the frame of rising number of cases in the whole country, the Air Command of the Military Transport CATAM continue doing this type of missions; this time from the capital city of Santander to Bogotá, with a patient in a critical state.
Due to the occupation of the ICU in Bucaramanga, which is over 99 %; the Military Transport Air Command, CATAM, carried out the aeromedical transfer in an ambulance aircraft King 350 where the patient was transported in Intensive Care Units, prepared to operate autonomously during the flight, to be assisted in the capital city of the country.
The military medical personnel and crews on board the aircraft have extensive experience in these missions. They were responsible for keeping him stable during the flight, contributing once again to safeguard the life of a Colombian in the midst of the pandemic.
This mission was carried out following all the protocols and biosecurity measures implemented by the Institution for the prevention of contagion of Covid-19.
In this way, the Institution safeguards the lives of the inhabitants in each region of the country, strengthening the response capacity to emergencies, thanks to the configuration of multipurpose aircraft to contribute to the purposes of the State.
