In a coordination carried out by the Government of the department of Atlántico and the Colombian Air Force, monitoring work was carried out on the floods that have occurred in the department.
Due to the heavy rains that crosses the country, flood emergencies have been increasing in different regions, which is why the Secretary of the Interior of the Atlántico Governorate together with the Colombian Air Force conducted a monitoring mission on the municipalities of the department to prevent possible flooding of the Magdalena River, especially the Dique channel, where in 2010 an overflow occurred due to the La Niña phenomenon.
This monitoring was carried out on a Bell 212 helicopter No.3, where the personnel of the National Atlántico Risk Management Unit conducted the search to determine which would be the critical points of the Channel, in which a preventive inspection will be carried out in accordance to the work that has previously been conducted.
Prevention is an operation of all the regional authorities and the Colombian Air Force joins to anticipate possible damages against the inhabitants, due to the increase in the levels of the river, where a yellow alert has already been decreed after the rains that have occurred in recent weeks.
