With Development Support Activity the Colombian Air Force benefits inhabitants of the Island of San Andrés
2,102 inhabitants, including children, young people, adults, the elderly and in the same way pets, benefited from medical assistance, recreation activities, donations and veterinary medical assistance in the Development Support Activity carried out for three days on the Island.
More than 60 volunteer health professionals in different specialties such as Internal Medicine, Neurology, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Family Medicine, Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery, Optometry, Psychology, Orthopedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Urology, and Nursing, arrived in the Island of San Andrés to contribute to the health of the islanders, to provide support to 1,027 patients; in the same way, the beneficiaries acquire free of charge the medicines prescribed. This health brigade was carried out thanks to the support of different institutions such as the Juan N. Corpas Foundation, Volunteer Optometrists of Colombia Foundation, the Amigos con Mision Foundation and PROCAPS Foundation.
In the same way, recreation activities, donations, an Entrepreneurship meeting, veterinary medical assistance, historical memory talks and a photographic exhibition were held in commemoration of the 103 years of the Colombian Air Force, where 1,075 people benefited thanks to the Totto company, the Minuto de Dios Foundation, the ICBF, Colgate, Colsubsidio, the San Andrés Governorate, the National Police, the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Air Force with their Professional Officers of the Reserve.
Despite the difficult weather conditions that occurred on the Island during the three days of the activity, it was possible to benefit a large number of the inhabitants who thanked the Colombian Air Force, for transporting the different specialists to whom it is difficult to access on the Island. In the same way, it is important to specify that thanks to the support of the Government of the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, the different activities could be carried out at the Brooks Hill school in the La Loma sector, at the Governorate Shelter of the C.O.S.O municipal SAI and the Banco de la República.
Bringing health and well-being to the most remote areas of the country is a constant commitment that the Colombian Air Force has to the inhabitants who required special assistance, contributing to the union, the national territory and giving them confidence, strengthening the ties of integration with the people and covering the most complex medical needs for free.
