Members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) visited the Military Transport Air Command (CATAM) in Bogot谩, capital of Colombia, within the framework of the First-Level Self-Assessment (SEL-1) of a strategic capability of the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC), the Air to Air Refueling (AAR) that is to be certified through the NATO Operational Capabilities Concept, Evaluation and Feedback (OCC E&F) Program.
During the self-assessment, standards related to military, doctrine, Command and Control, base security and defense, education, logistics, and intelligence aspects of the operation were verified, based on review lists established by NATO. In this way, it was sought to exhaustively verify the procedures used by the Colombian Aerospace Force for the autonomous exercise of the AAR instruments.
For this purpose, 15 NATO representative evaluators were appointed to complement the team of 21 certified Colombian evaluators, belonging to Colombian National Army, the Colombian Navy and the FAC.
These standardization processes go hand in hand with technical assistance, instruction and training of personnel in various areas; which represents a relevant gain for the Colombian Aerospace Force in terms of professionalization of its human resources.
Finally, this certification exercise leads the Institution to train its Resources and consolidates Colombia as a relevant actor in regional, hemispheric and global environments, positioning the Colombian Aerospace Force as a decisive, professional and capable force in the defense and protection of the inhabitants, the territory and its resources.
