Medell铆n, in the department of Antioquia, is the host of the Conference of Chiefs of the Air Forces of America (CONJEFAMER), in its 63rd edition.
From July 10 to 12, 2023, this event will be held and it promotes dialogue and cooperation among the nations of the American continent, to face common challenges in security and defense, working together in the search for effective and sustainable solutions, integrating wills, Resources and leadership to save lives.
The inaugural ceremony of the CONJEFAMER was presided over by General Luis Carlos C贸rdoba Avenda帽o, Commander of the Colombian Air Force, who greeted the attendees and recalled the laudable beginnings of this conference, which focuses on the exchange of experiences and knowledge, to strengthen the resources of each country, as well as to deal with issues relevant to the stability and peace of the territories.
The recurrence of natural catastrophes, caused by climate change, requires nations to be ready, the challenge is to respond to these impacts, prevent and combat the factors that cause them, from human and technological resources, as well as aerospace power, through mutual support among member States.
This year鈥檚 edition of the CONJEFAMER is attended by 22 member countries, from Canada to Argentina, three observer countries and three international organizations as special guests, the Inter-American Air Forces Academy (IAFAA), the 12th wing of the United States Air Force and the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB).
This conference is part of the System of Cooperation among the United States Air Forces, -SICOFAA-, an organization created with the purpose of promoting cooperation and mutual support among member countries, since then the operation of SICOFAA is focused on the exchange of means, training and instruction of personnel, as well as everything that facilitates procedures that leads the combined use of air means.
The beginnings of the Conference of the Chiefs of the Air Forces of the American continent date back to April 16, 1961 at Randolph Air Base, in San Antonio, Texas, United States, where the first CONFEJAMER was held with the assistance of 14 air force commanders of the hemisphere, including the participation of Colombia.
