Bogot谩. The Colombian team, representing the elite of the Armed Forces, was crowned champion of the Fuerzas Comando 2018 competition, held in Panama.
The Fuerzas Comando competition, organized by the Southern Command of the United States brings together military elite specialized counterterrorism units from 17 countries in the Americas, including the United States, Brazil, Honduras, Argentina, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Paraguay, among others, to measure tactical, technical, physical capacities and the skills of these Forces in their fight against terrorism.
These competitions began in 2004 led by the Southern Special Operations Command (SOCSOUTH) in assault and sniper team modalities, crowning this time for the ninth time Colombia as champion of these games with 2885 points, followed by the United States with 2615 points and Ecuador with 2605.
Fuerzas Comando, currently seeks to increase regional and multinational cooperation, mutual trust, improve training and interoperability of the special operations forces of the region.
For eight days this group of commandos competed day and night in Assaulter trials, where four commandos compete in tests such as rifle shooting, pistol shooting, critical tasks and night shooting, High Accuracy shooters, where a team of two shooters compete in events such as the FBI shooting, shooting at targets of opportunity and in movement, distance appreciation and shooting at unknown distances. Finally, Combined Tests, where the team competes as a whole in tests such as combined assault, forced march, obstacle course, aquatic event and physical test.
Colombia has positioned itself as one of the heaviest military forces in the region after winning nine times the 14 versions of Fuerzas Comando, another winers have been: Chile (2005), Paraguay (2006), Honduras (2007), USA. (2008), Colombia (2012 and 2014), Guatemala (2015), Peru (2016) and Panama (2018).
