With this operation, the Colombian Navy prevented the circulation and consumption of more than one million doses of cocaine in countries of the region.
A new blow to drug trafficking organizations was dealt by units of the Colombian Navy in the Pacific region of Nariño, with the interception of a boat that carried 458 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride inside, valued at US $ 15,434,600.
Thanks to intelligence information and the ongoing development of maritime surveillance, control and security operations carried out by units of the Tumaco Coast Guard and the Pacific Naval Force, it was possible to detect a Go-Fast boat, manned by two Colombians.
After several minutes of pursuit, the ship was intercepted eight nautical miles south of the coasts of Tumaco, Nariño, finding inside 23 sacks with 459 rectangular packages containing narcotic substances. The two individuals and the shipment were taken to the Tumaco Coast Guard Station, where authorities conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, which tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride.
This operation in the same way found 90 barrels with 1620 gallons of fuel, as well as satellite and navigation equipment. The individuals arrested and the material were put into custody of the SIJIN of Tumaco.
According to intelligence information, the drug would be sent of the Bocagrande sector, Nariño, to Central America. With this finding, the finances of the Residual Organized Armed Group Los Contadores, who commit crimes in the region, trafficking and selling narcotics to Mexico and the United States, were significantly hit.
In addition, it was established that this network maintains links with drug Cartels in Mexico, whose criminal alliance would have the capacity to send approximately one ton of cocaine a month. It is estimated that this result prevented the circulation and consumption of 1 145 000 doses of cocaine in the streets of the world, which means that the criminal and financial operations of these criminal structures were hit.
