Near the Las Palmas sector in the municipality of Puerto Nariño, during river control and security operations, units of the Amazonas Coast Guard Group found more than 780 kilograms of creepy-type marijuana, which were hidden in a boat, in the waters of the Amazonas River.
The operation was made possible thanks to the operation of the Amazonas Information Fusion Center, which led to the identification of the exact site where the drug was hidden. There, 803 rectangular packages were found by troops, packed in 26 black sacks, which were being transported to a safe dock in Puerto Nariño.
Subsequently, the illegal merchandise was taken to Leticia - Amazonas, where the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH by the authorities was carried out, confirming that it was 786 kilograms of marijuana.
The material found was put into custody of the Technical Investigation Staff - CTI of the Leticia Sectional Prosecutor's Office, to conduct the prosecution process.
Through this finding, the finances of drug trafficking are hit by more than five million dollars, weakening the criminal structures that operate in this region and stopping illicit activities that negatively impact local communities.
