The National Government will put all the resources to strengthen the communications, intelligence, command and control, facilities, and investigation resources of the Military Forces in the Zone Futuro of Chocó.
Rewards of up to 70 million pesos will be increased for information that contributes to the dismantling of the criminal groups in the department and up to 100 million pesos for those responsible for the attack perpetrated against members of the National Police in the municipality of Condoto.
The military forces and the National Police will strengthen military operations against organized armed groups and illegal activities in the region.
The demining operations being carried out by the National Army in the Miacora area will be intensified in order to ensure the safe return of the inhabitants of the communities.
The commander of the Military Forces, General Luis Fernando Navarro Jiménez, on behalf of the head of the Ministry of Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, accompanied by of military and Police High Command, together with local, regional authorities and members of the productive groups of the Department of Department of Chocó, presided over a Security Council, which aimed to analyze and provide support to the problems of law and order that at this time afflict the inhabitants of Chocó.
In development of the Security Council and on the complex situation in the region because of the activities of criminal groups that have been blackmailing, intimidating and generating anxiety in communities, the ministry of defence assumed commitments that aim to deploy the Resources of the Military Forces in order to ensure the security and tranquility of the inhabitants of the department of Chocó.
To this end, "the military forces, in coordination with the National Police and inter-agency with the Attorney General's Office, will send a specialized group of operations, intelligence and Judicial Police, in order to combat and dismantle the criminal structures that commit crimes in the region, directly attacking theft, personal injuries and homicides. In turn, the National Police will arrange a special intervention by the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) to face directly the phenomenon of extortion promoting the campaign: I do not pay, I denounce, aimed mainly at the productive groups”. A special plan will be implemented by the Criminal Investigation Directorate to guide the organization of enterprise security fronts.
In the same way, the Colombian Air Force will provide the departmental authorities the bridges with height program, which seeks to provide support to meet the needs of communities in air transport. The National Army, in coordination with the mayor of Alto Baudó, will carry out the feasibility study for the construction of a military bridge.
In compliance with presidential and ministerial guidelines, the National Police will launch the Quibdó 30-day Plan, to combat the main threats in the city.
It is important to note that the operation conducted by the Military Forces against the various factors of instability and insecurity, this year, has achieved important results, including the reduction of 12 percent in crime in relation with the same period of the previous year, the arrest of 107 members of the criminal groups that commit crimes in Quibdó, the finding of more than 495 million pesos in smuggled goods, the apprehension of alias Luis, second ringleader of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo; alias Jhon, zone ringleader and Alias Chespi, the latter, accused of being responsible for more than 10 homicides; he is the lists of the most wanted in the Department Chocó.
In addition, joint, coordinated and inter-agency operations have hit 143 members of organized armed groups, and troops have found 55 firearms, 20 623 ammunition units, neutralized 18 explosive devices and 351 kilograms of explosives. In the same way}, they have found 68 radios, 21 phones, 501 USB, two computers and six GPS. In the fight against drug trafficking, 51 laboratories for the production of narcotic drugs, 25 illegal hideouts, 31 camp sites have been found and destroyed, more than three tons of cocaine hydrochloride, 497 kilos of coca paste, 14,623 kilos of solid precursors and 71,927 gallons of liquid precursors have been found.
Finally, General Navarro reiterated the commitment of the National Government to coordinate all institutional resources and Military Forces to deal with the security problems in the Department of Chocó.
