A group of five officers belonging to the Chilean Air Force who were chosen to follow the basic course No.77 of the Helicopter School of the Military Forces (EHFAA), met all the academic requirements to carry out their first solo flight, in the Air Combat Command No.4, in Melgar, Tolima, climbing a significant step to achieve the dream of becoming military pilots.
The solo flight is an unforgettable tradition in the training course as basic helicopter pilots, there students test their skills and abilities by autonomously controlling an aircraft.
Once the student have passed the phase of land and the time of contact, the student continue to the tactical and instruments phase, where they receive instruction on the operations environment they will face in their careers; in addition, they complete the course with the phase of night vision goggles, where officers learn to sail the airspace in the night, guided by their knowledge to conduct these operations and electronic flight.
In this way, the EHFAA Colonel Carlos Alberto Gutiérrez Zuluaga of the Colombian Air Force demonstrates that thanks to its experience and knowledge it continues to be a reference in the helicopter training of Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Military Forces in Latin America.
