In the last few hours, more men of the Urban Special Forces arrived in Cali, who with troops of the Third Brigade will move to different points of the city to carry out permanent security operations.
In different strategic points of the city, troops of the Third Brigade of Colombian National Army began the deployment of checkpoints to provide security to the city, with a view to held the United Nations Conference on Biodiversity COP16, which will take place in Cali from October 21 to November 1, 2024.
These checkpoints will be permanent and will be interspersed per day in different sites of the city, such as the transport terminal, the airport and the perimeter of the Convention Center, as well as in those of tourist, cultural, governmental and critical construction interest.
In the same way, there will be six fixed checkpoints at the entrances and exits of the city of Cali and in nearby municipalities such as Jamund铆, Yumbo and Palmira.
With troops of the Military Police Battalion, Urban Special Forces and Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Valle, Colombian National Army will have about 2,000 men to ensure security before and during the event, which expects to receive more than 15,000 visitors.
With the arrival of more Urban Special Forces men to Cali, it is expected to reinforce the security operations planned for COP16. This military unit is characterized by the execution of military operations with high precision shooters, clearing of confined enclosures, air assault and helicopter transport, among others.
