It is estimated that there are approximately 372,016 military victims of the armed conflict in Colombia, who in this transition process receive assistance from different government institutions and of the same branch to which they are attached.
It is about recognizing the role of soldiers within the armed conflict and those military who were victims of situations that violate International Humanitarian Law or international human rights, which occurred within the framework of the internal conflict in Colombia.
These considerations are based and oriented towards the fulfillment of the objectives of the Joint Strategic Transitional Command, CCOET, which, at the same time, makes it possible through the Directorate of Support for Victims and Land Restitution, DAVIR, with the support of the Security forces.
Plans and policies were designed to make visible the members of the Security forces, victims and their families during the armed conflict through commemorative events that recognize them.
This Directorate belonging to the CCOET, of the General Command of the Military Forces, was created in April 2018. It has three areas: first, the one that is responsible for coordinating and with the Unit for Comprehensive Assistance and Reparation at Victims, UARIV, the recognition of the victims of the Security forces and the effective restitutions of their rights.
Its second area, has the responsibility of making visible the direct and indirect victims belonging to the Security forces, and, finally, under the same line, it has office in charge of coordinating with the Land Restitution Unit the pertinent accompaniment to carry out the restitution of territories of members of the Security forces they lost on the occasion of the conflict.
