The Colombian Military Forces carried out an important heavy operation against a structure of this residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, in a joint operation carried out in the rural area of the municipality of Solano, Caquetá.
The result was the damage of several of its members and the finding of abundant war material in a rainforest area of the southeast of the department.
This GAO-r has utilized the communities, intimidating them to mobilize and thus prevent the effective arrival of state institutions. This has made it difficult to eradicate the generators of violence in the area and has hindered the protection of indigenous communities, who urgently demand better opportunities in health and well-being, as required by the defenders of the Colombian Amazon.
In a military operation carried out in the southeast of Caquetá by troops of Colombian National Army, the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police, the site was found where criminals belonging to a structure of the Residual Organized Armed Group Central Staff FARC E.P. under the criminal command of alias Ivan Mordisco, who were trying to hide of the heavy operation of the military operation conducted by the authorities for several weeks in the south of the country.
In the event, which occurred in a rural area of the municipality of Solano, there was a firefight, which resulted in the death within the framework of military operations of several members of this structure, who were carrying out several criminal operations against the inhabitants under the command of the ringleader alias Ivan Mordisco.
As a result of the operation and thanks to the training and expertise of the military personnel, seven rifles, abundant ammunition of different calibers, material of military accessories and communications equipment were found by troops in the operation. This represents a significant blow to the logistical and criminal resources of the structures of alias Ivan Mordisco in the region.
The group neutralized the threat posed by the responsible for strengthening illegal finances through activities such as extortion, kidnapping, illegal mining and drug trafficking. He is accused of planning murders and the forced recruitment of minors, who are often used as human shields or executed if they refuse to join the ranks of this criminal structure. A tragic example of this occurred in May 2023, when individuals under the command of alias Ivan Mordisco murdered four indigenous children.
It is important to note that this structure, led by alias Ivan Mordisco, is in territorial dispute for drug trafficking routes with other armed groups in the region, such as the Comandos de Frontera of the Second Marquetalia and the Raul Reyes Front of alias Calarcá. These clashes have generated pressure and threats on the inhabitants, who are being forced to mobilize to prevent the Military Forces from fulfilling their constitutional mission for these communities.
In response to this situation, the Military Forces have reinforced their presence in the area, continuing with land, river and air operations. The objective is to find other members of these illegal organizations, weaken their logistical and criminal structures, and improve security conditions for the inhabitants of the region.
