The Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Cauca, in an interinstitutional operation with the Technical Corps of Investigation CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, made effective the arrest warrant against alias “Tulfo” issued by the Municipal Court of La Sierra, in the department of Cauca, for the crimes of extortion and conspiracy to commit a crime. He would be linked to extortion payments to merchants, cattlemen, transporters and farmers in the municipalities of Morales, Silvia and Cajibío.
Thanks to an arduous follow-up work, it was possible to find this individual, presumed member since 2017 of the residual organized armed group GAO-r Third group. This would be responsible for the collection of resources for the support of the structure through the periodic collection of extortion “fees”, according to the denunciations made by the injured parties, mainly of the municipality of Cajibío.
The man is in the same way responsible for carrying out intelligence work against the Security forces in order to carry out terrorist operations and he was in the same way the right hand of alias Mauricio, head of that group.
Among the criminal operations in which Tulfo had participated, there are the burning of a vehicle of the energy company on May 24, 2017, the launching of a hand grenade to the headquarters of the Morales transport cooperative on September 1, 2017, and another explosive device at the Villa Paz farm in Piendamó on December 26, 2018.
With the arrest of alias Tulfo the illicit finances of this structure are weakened, since the mission that this group has in the department, is to collect money product of extortion and drug trafficking.
The National Army invites the community to continue to denounce irregular events that may hit the security of the inhabitants of Cauca, in order to achieve decisive operations against organized armed groups that plan to disturb law and order.
