In the course of Operation Artemisa, the Amazonas Air Group of the Colombian Air Force in coordination with the Amazonas National Police captured five people who were allegedly carrying out illegal exploitation of renewable natural resources on the Tacana River, a tributary that surrounds an indigenous settlement of the Yawas ethnic group.
Together with the individuals accused of the crime illegal exploitation of renewable natural resources, two axes and five machetes were confiscated. These are tools used to cause environmental damage in this nature reserve, cradle of the biodiversity of the Amazonas region.
The aim of this operation is to protect the ecosystem of the lung of the world and the Yawas communities in this area and those who live off fishing and subsistence plantations.
