Army captures in the Department of Cordoba presumed ringleader of the residual GAO accused of attacking on a military patrol in the department of Nariño
Apparently this individual had fled to this area trying to hide of the operation launched against the group that would have perpetrated that cowardly operation that cost the life of a non-commissioned officer and a soldier last July 11.
Troops of the National Army, in development of interinstitutional military operations, deployed with the Prosecutor's Office against crimes, captured alias 'El Mono' or 'El Poncho', alleged ringleader of the organized armed group GAO-r, Estiven González, who commits crimes in the department of Nariño and who would be directly involved in the planning and execution of the terrorist operation where two of our soldiers died on last July 11 in Cumbitara.
The capture took place in the municipality of Planeta Rica, south east of Department of Cordoba, where the military arrived, alerted by information provided by the Civic Participation Network, which had already warned about the intentions of this individual to flee the area to hide and evade the operation of the authorities, but a detailed military intelligence work led to find the man pretending to be a humble inhabitant of this population.
Through a search warrant issued by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 165, it was possible to capture this man who was found with a firearm, ammunition and communications equipment.
It has in the same way been established that in addition to planning and carrying out terrorist operations against the civilian population and the security forces, this individual would be responsible for the illegal finance system of that residual organized armed group in the department of Nariño making contacts and criminal alliances with Cartels of the drug trafficking of Sinaloa, Mexico, the GAO “Clan del Golfo” and drug traffickers in Cauca, Nariño and Valle del Cauca.
The individual and the materials were put into custody of the authorities for their respective judicial process.
