Bolivar. In the framework of the military and police campaign "Esparta", the National Navy in a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force and coordinated with the National Police, with the support of the National Army managed to capture alias "Bruno", ringleader of the Organized Armed Group Clan del Golfo and two more members of that criminal organization.
Thanks to intelligence information of the Caribbean Naval Force and the National Police, the operation was carried out in the rural area of the municipality of Tisquisio (Bolívar), where troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) - Bolívar and the Naval Group of the Caribbean, the National Navy and the National Police, who engaged armed confrontation with members of the Clan del Golfo.
Later, troops of the National Navy and the National Police captured alias "Bruno" or "Estiven", 38, main ringleader of the "Erlin Pino Duarte" structure, and one man and one woman, who were injured. The second man was the body guard of "Bruno" and the woman, sentimental partner of the leader, conducted nursing work and payment to members of the group. For the security and consolidation of the operation, troops counted on the support of men of the Nariño Battalion of the National Army.
The three captured were taken in a helicopter of the Colombian Air Force to the hospital center of Caucasia (Department of Antioquia), where they received the medical assistance and were put into custody of the Office of the Prosecutor against Organized Crime 151 of Barranquilla.
In the operation, troops also found a 38-caliber revolver, a pistol, computing and communication equipment, and 21 million pesos in cash.
Criminal profile
Alias "Bruno" or "Estiven", had two arrest warrants for the crime of aggravated conspiracy, he is the main ringleader of the "Erlin Pino Duarte" structure of the "Clan del Golfo", after the capture of alias "Samuel" last May 20, 2018. With a criminal trajectory of more than 15 years, he would be in charge of directing the activities of drug trafficking, extortion charges, illegal mining, selective homicides and operations against the Public Force.
After his demobilization of the self-proclaimed "United Self-Defense forces of Colombia" in 2006, "Bruno" has been in more than eight criminal processes for drug trafficking, extortion and illegal carrying of firearms.
With these captures, the Military and Police Forces continue to weaken the Organized Armed Group "Clan del Golfo", directly damaging the criminal line of command in the Caribbean region.
