Arauca. At a checkpoint in the village La Holanda, in the municipality of Tame, Arauca, according to a detailed monitoring by the National Army, with the support of the Judicial Police of the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) is captured alias “Picotón”, ringleader of the commission “Martha Elena Barón” of the Front “Domingo Laín Sáenz” of the Eln.
During the military operation, alias 'Picotón' was captured with a pistol, two magazines and 27 cartridges; this individual was member of this armed group for 14 years and had operations in the hamlet La Holanda, in Betoyes and the municipality center of Corocito, in the department of Arauca.
With this operation an important blow to the criminal structure is given, taking into account that this individual was explosives expert, in charge of the installation of explosive devices on the road that contacts the municipality of Tame and Fortul with the sectors such as Corocito, Tamacay, Babaica and El Tigre. In the same way, he was in charge of collecting extorted money paid by transporters, merchants, and cattlemen in the region.
This individual, which was put into custody of the authorities along with the war material, is wanted for a judicial process for the crimes of aggravated homicide and rebellion.
