In Antioquia, Army and Police captured alias ‘Caremelaza’ and alias ‘Chuki’, fearsome leaders of the GAO ‘Clan del Golfo’
The individuals are part of the criminals charts identified by the authorities, given the seriousness of the crimes carried out during the course of their criminal career.
Thanks to the information provided by the Civic Participation Network, the National Army, the Police and the Prosecutor captured alias ‘Caremelaza’ and alias ‘Chuki’ for the crimes of aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime. The Individuals are recognized for executing criminal operations against the Security forces and the civilian population, such as selective homicides and forced displacement.
Alias ‘Caremelaza’ was a ringleader of the western substructure of the Organized Armed Group ‘ GAO Clan del Golfo, with illegal activities in the municipalities of Anzá, Armenia, Heliconia, Ebéjico and Caicedo. He had belonged at first to the extinct United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), serving as a hitman for the structure, to finally enter, in 2005, the demobilization plan.
However, upon submission to the Justice and Peace Law, the aforementioned man reappeared in the criminal world in 2017, becoming a ringleader of the ' GAO Clan del Golfo' in the municipality of Heliconia and Ebéjico, being responsible for the group, at the beginning of 2019, and replacing alias 'Terry', in the entire area of the three municipalities mentioned above.
His capture is carried out in an abandoned house, in the village La Salazar, in Caicedo, a place used as a center for planning criminal operations.
In the second result, the capture of alias ‘Chuki’, ringleader of the ‘Clan del Golfo’ in the municipality of Caicedo, occurred. This individual was known in the sector for being a bloodthirsty man. He was pointed out by the community for the execution of homicides ordered by the organization.
The individual with 10 years of criminal history, served since 2017 as a hitman of the structure, before becoming an area ringleader. He is accused for robbery of vehicles of the collective transport of passengers and food in the hamlets La Virgen and La Salazar.
With these two captures the National Army heavily hits the group outlaw, directly impacting its command, direction and economic center. In the same way, the ability to carry out drug trafficking, microtrafficking, extortion and assassination activities against the civilian population of Antioquia is neutralized.
