The individual was in the main Pacific port to attend a meeting for the coordination of illicit activities.
As part of the ongoing operation of the Military Forces against criminal groups that commit crimes in the Pacific, the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the National Police, arrested alias Conan, the alleged main ringleader of the Omar Silgado group of the Organized Armed Group ELN, in Buenaventura.
Troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.24 of the Colombian Navy and National Police personnel, moved to the 10 Special District, where with timely information from an anonymous source, they complied with a current arrest order against this 27-year-old individual, for the alleged crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes and aggravated rebellion.
Alias Conan, who would have had a criminal experience of 15 years within the ELN, apparently played a fundamental role in the finances and illicit operations of this criminal structure, responsible for leading the drug trafficking chain, including the transportation of narcotics to other countries, in addition to extortion and illegal mining.
This structure of the ELN is responsible for homicides, confinement of communities and the forced displacement of the inhabitants in the south of Buenaventura, on the occasion of the dispute that is constant against other groups for territorial control and criminal revenues.
With the arrest of this individual, the criminal structure of the ELN is destabilized and the ability to control drug trafficking routes in the region, as well as all its criminal activities.
The arrested man was put into custody of the Prosecutor's Office 85 Sectional Specialized Directorate against Criminal Organizations.
