Cauca. In different operations carried out in the municipality of Timbiquí in the department of Cauca, against the organized residual armed group "Guerrillas Unidas del Pacifico" a modified boat that would be used for the transport of alkaloids was found and two criminals of this organization were captured with weapons.
In the area of the village El Tigre, the troops of the Pacific Naval Force found a boat whose structure had been modified by placing a cover with fiberglass that protected the merchandise and its crew. These types of boats, called low-profile boats, help to improve navigability and with speed in travel.
The boat, approximately 10 meters long and with capacity to carry up to three and a half tons of alkaloids, had three 75-horsepower engines. Two individuals, who took care of the boat, when noticing the presence of the personnel of the National Navy, escaped the place.
The ship that would be used for the transport of alkaloids, was transferred to the municipality of Guapi in Cauca and put into custody of the authorities.
