In the operation led by troops of the Twenty-Eighth Brigade, a military unit of the Eighth Division of the National Army against the illicit activities in the region of the Orinoco, in a joint and coordinated operation along with the Navy of Colombia and the National Police, were found by troops 9,600 gallons of fuel (5,100 gallons of gas and 4,500 gallons of diesel fuel), that were transported without documentation proving legality; the fuel came from the sector of Maviso, in the municipality of Inírida, Guainía.
This fuel was heading towards the sector called La Yapacana, in the Republic of Venezuela. The finding was made possible thanks to the river observation checkpoint on the banks of the Guaviare River, which detected the movement of a suspicious ship carrying the fuel. Immediately and with the support of the units of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.50, the transport of the fuels inside was confirmed.
This material is valued at approximately $114 million pesos, this operation damages the illicit activities of organized armed groups that benefit of the exploitation of mining deposits.
The material and the boat are put into custody of the competent authority, in this case the DIAN (taxes office) section in the municipality of Inírida.
