At Expodefensa 2021, Coelum will be officially presented to the Air Force, it is a drone manufactured by the CIAC, to support intelligence, surveillance and control work in the main cities.
The developments of science technology and innovation of the companies of the Social and Business Group of Defense, GSED, are focused on strengthening the Resources of the Military Forces, to the year 2042.
Expodefensa is expected to receive more than 10 thousand visitors by November 29 and December 1, in Corferias.
“Threats such as deforestation, global warming, cyberattacks, the reconfiguration of urban crime, and the sale of psychoactive substances through social networks, require innovative approaches and the strengthening of Resources, which implies innovating and carrying out new skills and implementing new technologies.”
This was said by the Minister of National Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, during the official opening of the Expodefensa 2021 Fair, which was in the same way attended by the President of the Republic Iván Duque, the military and police high command, in addition to the delegations of the 23 countries.
This security fair has become the most important in Latin America and the region, where the exchange of knowledge is promoted and products at the service of defense and security in Colombia are presented.
Before 228 speakers, the Minister of Defense highlighted that the threats are being faced with the resolution of the Military Forces, with the strengthening of our soldiers and police officers and with improved Resources in each of our branches.
“For the first time, a Security Force, in its Security and Defense Policy, states that biodiversity, forests and water are a strategic asset to protect. Last year, thanks to this joint effort by our Military Forces, it was possible to reduce the potentially deforested area by 30 percent. In this semester, with Artemisa phase 13, more than 1,200 hectares of Amazon rainforest were protected, preventing 600 thousand tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere,” Molano said.
Regarding the national defense system, Molano reported that this year it was innovated, with the purpose that Defense sector companies support and strengthen Resources and long-term plans.
“Cotecmar has become the fundamental axis for the strengthening of the Navy with the construction of new ships and low size boats, to guarantee sovereignty of Colombia in the rivers, as has been the case of the Arauca River,” he said.
For its part, the CIAC designed Coelum, an unmanned aircraft that since last week carries out surveillance flights in Cali, to guarantee the security of the Pan American Games.
The National Army works hand in hand with Codaltec to carry out the Titan vehicle, a troop transport vehicle that is designed in order to ensure less risk for soldiers who are transported on the borders and roads of Colombia.
The head of the Ministry of Defense said that these science and technology projects guarantee that the processes of strengthening the Military Forces have the support of the military industry in the Ministry of Defense.
Through Expodefensa, companies in the Defense sector promote the culture of innovation, sustainability and quality, for this, the option of bringing developments to be marketed is privileged, not only within the sector, but with other national and international sectors.
In this sense, Minister Molano explained that one of the great strengths of science and technology is the dual use, that is, that the Resources of the security forces are in the same way at the service of civil society.
“Our security forces have in the same way supported the mitigation of the effects of the pandemic, with the transfer of humanitarian aid and collaboration with vaccination in all corners of the country. They faced the challenges posed by the pandemic, companies in the sector have not been left behind either.”
In this Expodefensa, Indumil will introduce the Herons mechanical ventilator, and Cotecmar will show its ambulance boat to provide support to the inhabitants in the rivers of Colombia.
Since this year, the Defense business group, carries out Business meetings, this is how in more than 60 opportunities has interacted in the municipalities with the Colombian private sector, micro, small, and large companies, generating shares worth $ 75 billion pesos.
Finally, in parallel, the Orion Summit takes place, a meeting of naval authorities of allied countries in the largest multilateral operation, meeting with regional and local authorities of more than 20 countries in Latin America, especially Central America and the Caribbean region.
