These military operations are being carried out in order to protect the 1,016,000 inhabitants of the department.
As part of the Ayacucho military operation, soldiers of the Tenth Brigade of Colombian National Army carried out a successful operation against drug trafficking, with which it was possible to find almost two tons of marijuana valued at more than $1,581,000,000, in the village of Manantialito de Barrancas, in The department of La Guajira.
Thanks to the military intelligence work carried out by soldiers of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No. 2, it was possible to have information on the movement of a vehicle that was possibly transporting illicit drugs; this is how, through a military checkpoint, this car with Venezuelan license plates was stopped, in which the marijuana was actually traveling; during the maneuver the driver fled.
The material was put into custody of the authorities for the start of the judicial proceedings.
