The Colombian Navy, coordinating the unified operation of the State, convened a regional coordination meeting for the Montes de María, with the assistance of the governors of Bolívar and Sucre, the Attorney General's Office, representatives of the Colombian military forces and the National Police, to generate preventive measures that led to deal with the intentions of the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, Segunda Narcotalia.
This is how the following conclusions and commitments were generated by the institutions of the Colombian State in the region:
1. While the GAO residual La Narcotalia expressed its intention to return to the Montes de María, the Military Forces, especially the Colombian navy, do not rule out any criminal intent in this region, so they keep their resources permanently available, ready and coordinated with the other institutions to neutralize the intentions of this illegal group.
2. The Naval institution summons the community of the Montes de María, to report in a timely manner through lines 123, 147 and 165, any suspicious activity that threatens the safety and life of civilians. It in the same way keeps the rewards for information provided on the Most Wanted Criminals in the region.
3. The Military Forces, in coordination with the other institutions in the region, carried out three lines of operation to contain the intentions of this group:
a. increase intelligence not only in the Montes de María subregion, but throughout the Caribbean region to determine the true intentions and resources of the enemy.
B. carried out joint and coordinated operations, coordinating efforts within the boundaries of regions and preventing them from different violence-generating agents, in order to dismantle support structures.
C. continue with the comprehensive resolving operation by all the institutions of the State, with productive projects taking advantage of the development programs with a territorial approach –PDET.
The Military Forces, regional and local civil authorities and the Office of the Attorney General reiterate their commitment to contribute to the security and development of the region.
